Bubba, the altenator is burning out as soon as you start up the engine. do you think it is a possibility that i may have a bad ground somewhere. like i said before also the fuse panel for the engine side of things is really rigged up, they added inline fuses everywhere.
OK I need to know what engine/alternator we are dealing with but a bad ground is possible, so is a poor or disconected wire from the battery to the regulator. A bad ground situation from the alternator body to the engine block, normally just the mounting, or a bad ground from the engine to the frame and body, best possibility a bad ground from the external regulator case to the body frame and battery, and a bad conection between the battery and the alternator. What you discribe sounds like the alternator is going full field and delivering the amperage somewhere, so we have an alternator that is hot wired to full field, the regulator is not seeing battery voltage and feeding full voltage to the alternator (probably a chev ) or an incorect alternator. Chev built internal and external regulated alternators, wiring in an external to an internal regulated aplication will do this. So yes the mess at the fuse box could cause this. Good luck
