I have checked voltage at the solenoid terminal. The solenoid works (I can hear it) when it is given 12v from a jumper wire. But I cannot get voltage to the solenoid by turning the ignition switch to "on". Any ideas?
I don't like having to chase this wire into the harness, I may just put a new wire from a new source.
Does this solenoid get 12v when the ignition key switch is turned to "on" or when the engine is running?
As long as this is wired like the ones I have worked on it will be wired to Accessory side of the ignition switch or triggered by the alternator starting to charge. The accsesory side of the ignition switch goes off when in the start position. That way the alternator, stereo, wipers, AC, and so on don't draw on the battery when starting. SO Thats how I would wire it up. Stteal power off the stereo feed as long as it wired that way. It could have been re wired to have a sound system while parked. Good Luck
