We bought a 1978 Dodge Jamboree with 60,000 orig. miles. It has a good engine, good generator, working ac (just needs to be cleaned). Here's the bad part. The tires are 16.5". They don't sell them anymore. Also something with the "U joint" needs to be "tightened". What the blood ell does that mean and should I trust this thing for my 14 hour drive???
The 16.5 tire issue is easy, find replacement rims, preferably 16 inch that will fit. Dodge dually rims from a wrecker maybe? The u joint is not a tightanable item. Remove and replace only. If you only need one the repair could cost as little as $100 but if one is gone they probably all are. This is a safty and prevent disaster item. If the U joint fails the drive shaft will flail around under the unit and distroy anything it hits and breaks what it is still attached to. Either the transmision or the diferential. Once it tears itself free it becomes a 70 LB pipe flying down the highway. You need to get it fixed. Good Luck
