OK from your brief discription, the guage may be wired wrong or have failed (unlikely) or some one has added a load on the battery side of the guage. (More Likely). Or the battery is bad, it will start the engine still but it draws way more than a good one would, or like a lot of dodges used to the voltage regulator is bad and stuck on full charge. A voltage meter and a freind to help checking will tell. Battery before starting = 12.5 volts or better. Battery after starting 13.5 to 14.2 volts give or take. Battery at 2500 rpm engine speed 14.2 max. The high end voltage will fall off as time goes by ( My Dodge used to fall from 14.2 to 13.5 over an hour or so) Good Luck
We own a georgetown class a motor home, our problem is when hooked to shore electric both house batteries seem to over charge to boiling out. If I do not check them weekly they become dry. Both batt. are 1yr old, now we just replaced the starting batt early july checked it end of july and found it to be very low on water also is this normal (I think not) dealer says it is? Thanks in advance
