The over drive light started blinking last night and now it's taking a little longer to go to the next gear. What's wrong and is it expensive to fix? Will it break down on me on the highway? Also, a/c started to blow out hot air, called pepboys and was told it would be at least $150 to check it. Went to Jiffy Lube was told to buy refrigerant over the counter and put it in, Now it does not blow anything at all!
I found a pinched wire under the starter. OOPS! I removed the starter and wires look ok but hard to see under there. Re-installed it and now i can put in reverse and quickly hit the gas and it will not die but runs VERY sluggish (no power) I went around my block but when i come to a stop it wants to turn off. It was running very good before i had to replace the starter.
Any Suggestions?
Sounds like a vacuum hose is off somewhere. Does it idle rough? Or as far as the tranny goes, it could be the vacuum modulator valve on the tranny its self. The A/C, IDK. And yes it can be costly.
They are well known to have vacuum leak problems, and the check engine light is a waste, I've ignored mine for three years so far, you can get a new "trouble code" every time you take it in, and it'll cost a small fortune to fix, after 2,000 we just decided to drive it till it drops, it's still working just fine... The lite comes on when your electronic overdrive is turned off... you don't need it to drive, just to save gas on the highway...turn it off... the car has a book value around 375.00, so I wouldn't put much into it...
My OD Light is flashing after I replaced my starter.
I'm looking over the vacuum hoses to make sure I didn't tear one. It starts ok but when I put it in Drive the motor turns off.
Anything else I should be looking at?
The light on the dash just came on that says o/d- the book says take it in for service- what is the cause of the light coming on - does anyone know- this seems to be a common problem with this year and make.
