Electrical Problem In General Fuse Deana 5-10-08
I am having a problem with my 110 electrical in my 1992 Fleetwood Prowler. I have narrowed my search but am not sure where to go next. When all the breakers are on it trips the breaker in the house. I have narrowed it down to the breaker marked "general", which seems to be everything except the airconditioner, and the microwave. I have followed the wiring from the bathroom, to the lights above the couch in the living room and the general does not trip when I disconnect everything past them, but I am not sure where to go next without tearing the rig apart.
I am thinking there must be a junction box somewhere that has been corrupted, but I have no clue where it could be... any help from this point would be greatly appreciated!

Well that can be hard but lets see. first are you using an extension cord if so keep it short as possible and as heavy duty as possible make sure its a three prong 15amp,if your just hooked to your 30amp cord and this is happining than you will need to inspect the converter juntion for loose ground leads also in your 110v service plugs if those check out than next would be your electrical heating element on your refer with a multi-meter check the ohm resistance and loop your resistance should be 0.42 0.47 in that range and make sure its not grounding itself on the casing if all that checks out than its on to the house and checking ground and nutral being that most hosehold wiring is gfi protection of nutral service hope that this help

Well I went out and purchased a very expensive 30 amp extension cord, so I dont think it's the cord and again it's only when the breaker marked "general" is in the on position that it trips the house breaker. I tried unpluging the refer, but it still trips the breaker with the fridge unplugged. And it trips immediatly, so I am not sure how to check the wiring with out being able to have any electric running though them... I suppose I will just have to keep following the wire to see where it goes next... not sure if it goes over the top through the roof or under the rig. The only thing I know for sure is the problem is past the lighing above the couch in the living room area... Ok well off I go to tear the rig apart... thanks for your help.

I figured I let you all know how it turned out... I had gotten stuck after the fridge, I could not figure out where the wire went next.. after undoing almost every plug in the camper and pulling the wall away.. I discovered the wire went down, so I followed it to the generator receptacle which is located under the stove! Had no idea it was there.. well much to my demise I realized the problem was after that receptacle but before the outlet on the other side of the camper.. I followed that wire up, so up on the roof I went. I discoved I had a leak! Apparently the water had gotten into where a wire had been nicked! My rig is a mess, but I ran some new wire and patched the roof. Not fun at all! But aside from some cosmetic damage I will repair after I recover from this job, everything is working perfectly!
