I have a Winnebago 2002 Brave with auto parking brake problems. First, when it fails it turns off the 8.1 Workhorse engine rendering the ignition ineffective. I can crawl under the coach, short across the starter/solenoid and crank it back up.
In North Carolina I had to pull the pin on the parking brake and unplug the wire harness on the Gray pressure switch near the hydraulic pump to get back home. It made the 400 mile trip flawlessly except for having no parking or emergency brake. I put my jacks down to prevent accidental rolling.
At home I reattached the pin/spring and bought the four parts outlined on the rv mechanic web site. My Gray pressure switch #10218778 was obviously fractured so I replaced it. I can not find the Green pressure switch however there is a brown pressure switch near the ATF reservoir for the parking brake.
The brake seems to work fine but after driving about a mile the engine once again quit rendering the Ignition ineffective. I crawled under shorted the solenoid and returned home.
Two questions: Where is my green switch and what causes it to kill my engine?
Help!! I can't go to your website. I am stranded at DeFuniak Springs, FL. I stoped for 20 minutes and when I started to pull off the auto park would not release. What can and how can I temporarlly release the auto park to drive home? I replaced the green switch and the light switch in November o7. The unit is a 96 Winnebago Adventurer ona P-30 chassis.
Thanks
Bo
Not sure which came first here....the chicken or the egg....but I'm thinking that the ignition is what's failing, causing the AP to actuate.
The brake is on by default and requires a pump to release it, so any power failure will actuate it.
When it fails on it's own...it's almost always that green or brown pressure switch which fails to make contact..sending the pressure out of site, which ruptures the switch and then leaks out all the fluid from the reserviour.
I have a lot of info on this, so email me at tropical6350@yahoo.com if you need to know more.
