I cant seem to get my brakes to work on my trailer, I need to know what the lights on my controler mean. There red and yellow and light red, I cant seem to get the brakes to work, its almost like I dont have the right power, what do I do?
First, make sure you got power going to the brake, & the brake are properly adjusted. If everything is hook ok, by applying the brake manualy(on the brake controller(the thing with the lights)) you should not be able to drag the trailer away.
If you're not too far I can repair it for a diner or you can come by I repair & you cook diner for me & wify if hubby allow. would be nice for her to have a rest!!

Trailer: 1974 Kit Companion
Problem: trailer brakes won't work
So far: installed new controller.
If I apply 12v behind connector (tapping into the hot and return lines) using 12 v battery charger, brakes engage. They won't engage using pick-up electrical system. Checked for voltage with connector hooked up using 12 v indicator light, and there is signal in lines - nice and bright light from indicator. It is as if there is not enough amperage in the lines....out of ideas.
