My dad is in Florida on vacation and he has a problem- he said he drove a ways and kept smeling something hot. He stopped and found out his motorhome would not stop rolling when he put it in park. Turns out the Auto Park Was still applied to the shaft and burned out the pads.
He wants to know how to disengage the park brake and replace the pads.
He is very mechanically inclined but is this something that needs to be done at a RV dealer?
On mine the switch is located on the side of the tank you put fluid in. The part number is 15961566. I ordered mine from gm-auto-parts.com and it cost 47.85 with shipping. If the switch is bad it will be all covered with oil and dirt.
My brake system hung up and now it won't engage. where is the green switch located? I added fluid but still doesn't work. My coach is a 95 Holiday Rambler. Help. Jim
Tell him to get under unit right behind steps there is a small tank inside a metal box-"open on rear side" and add Dextron 3 fluid---it should make it work
the green switch inside the system goes bad and leaks dextron making the system lock up and burn out BRAKE SHOES---not pads
it is against the law to tell you how to dismantle any brake system
sorry

I have a 1998 damon motor home on a p30/32 chassey I had the same problem as most that I have read on this site as well as others.Seem's when the green pressure switch starts leaking and sooner our later it WILL!it will cause the brake shoes to contact the drums and slowly burn up the shoes. Why would anyone install a system that has to work while the motor is running to release the parking brake its really a dumb dumb system I rewired mine several years ago bypassing the INP switch and just use the manual pull switch that I must pull everytime I stop just as you would if it was manual park brake. No problems now for the last 4 years.
HAD THE SAME TROUBLE REPLACED FORE MENTIONED VALVE 2 TIMES. FOUND THE BIGGER ELECTRIC SOLENOID WAS LEAKING THROUGH CAUSING THE BRAKE TO APPLY GRADUALLY WHILE DRIVING. REPLACED VALVE
I had this same problem on my '98 Coachmen Mirada in '05. The pressure maintenance switch (green) was leaking fluid out the electrical connector. I replaced the switch and all was well 'till last week.
On the '98, the switch is located inside a rugged component box inside the right chassis beam just forward of center.
Now, the Auto-Park light stays on - even though the brake system appears to work properly. Am going to try replacing the "other" pressure switch as it controls only the light. We'll see...
How did you burn it up? Just curious.
I recently purchased a Georrgia Boy with this system and getting a little concerned with all the problems I am seeing here on the net. I may have to convert mine to manual system just to have a peace of mind when I go camping.
Probably have to re-engineer it or something.
