Camper Brake Wiring Rob, 1980 21ft hi-lo 6-4-06
My camper electric brakes are wired in series (left-front to left-rear to right-rear to right-front) with the ground wires for each brake to the frame. I have heard that it is better to wire in parallel and run a ground all the way back to the battery/plug ground to the tow vehicle. Does anyone have experience re-wiring to do this? Is it as simple as putting a jumper across from each brake (fronts/backs) and running a continuous ground wire?

Any assistance is appreciated!

No, the brakes are now wired in parrelel, The chassis ground is the least of your concerns. Most trailers have notoriously bad conections between the feed wire and the magnets. Grounds and feed conections should be checked monthly in comecial units and anualy in RV service, I recomend before first use of spring. The chassis ground for the brakes is preferable as long as properly maintained, there is less energy loss between the magnets and the ground as the total wire length is shorter.
