P30 chassis emergency brake Dave Woodman 2-2-05
I have a Pace Arrow 1996 on P30 chassis. I find it has a emergency brake that i am not familiar with. Has a separate brake system for emergency and no transmission lock like my chevie 350 truck. Had a near tragedy when I put unit if park and stepped outside only to find my pace arrow rolling. Anybody have any problems with this setup.

We've exactly the same problem on a Fleetwood
apparently it is common to every chassis fitted with autopark brake. some people complained about sensor going defective, oil on the drum brake linings, pump wires not connected springs breaking and lockdown at high speed where brake applies automatically and may result in engine failure or gearbox problems. i'm wordering if the automatic brake system can be disconnected and the foot pedal used independently without using the fancy faulty automatic braking system.

I have a similar problem on a 95 Chevy P30 chassis with a 96 Coachman Mirada. A pring broke on the parking brake assembly under the coach near the Auto Park Brake. I believe this made it call for more pressure to release the electric/hydraulic brake. It built up so much pressure it blew the threads off of where the Pressure Maitenance Switch screws into on the reservoir. I would like to know if there is an online store to buy parts or at least get the part numbers so the part can be ordered from Workhorse.

I bought my 1995 Safari Trek this April and quickly discovered that it had no parking brake. Two repairs later the parking brake is still next to useless despite having the entire system replaced. Can anyone share info that might allow me to understand how it is supposed to work so I can safely park the RV without chocking the wheels? I've tried in vain to find a P-30 chassis manual. If anyone out there has the relevant pages could they photocopy them for me. I'll gladly pay whatever it costs and I'll post them on a website for all to see!
Thanks
Mike

After driving I cannot back up. I notice that the autopark light trip point changes. Light will come on at park cold. Hot it will stay on through reverse.I suspect the cam operated switch but cannot locate it.

Re: P30 chassis emergency brake Bob 6-1-05
I have a 96 Pace Arrow Vision with a 95 454 Chevy on a P30 chasis...

The Auto Park light remains ON even after I added ATF fluid. I have a leak in the box near the transmission and wonder if it might be the seal between the pump and the plastic bowl.

Anyway, I have no way to stop or park without holding the brake pedal down or putting blocks in front of tires. Any help??

I also am having trouble with my autopark brake system working. I have had to replace two switches under the chasies and have the brakes adjusted. It now needs the brakes adjusted again because it will not hold.

Re: P30 chassis emergency brake Mark Thomas 8-16-05
ChiltonDIY.com has the online manual for 87-97 Chevy motorhome cassis, I purchased it for 19.95 and has helped a little in Identification, still have not figured out why I have no brakes or steering when I put it in gear. And yes I have no stoppage in park either.
Re: P30 chassis emergency brake Don Sorum 10-5-05
The switch that is most likely causing you the problem can be found from underneath the left front of MH and looking up towards the end of the steering column. It has 2 wires, a rather large "cam activated" plunger, is brass and the body of the switch is about 1.5 inches in diameter. WARNING!!!! Do not reach up and push the plunger "in" unless the wheels are chocked because you will be releasing the brake and the MH can now freely roll!!!!!
