1973 Superior - gas line to Onan 5kw generator is closed somewhere. Nothing to be seen under the generator area. Can anyone tell me how it goes to the gas tank? Is there a float cut-off (in tank)for low-fuel situations? Is there a valve on the line that I may not yet have found? Had it only a few weeks - working through the kinks. thanks
I have a 1972 Dodge Superior, 20 foot long, and in amazingly excellent shape. The original owner also installed two additional fuel tanks on it; and when I bought it it had less than 78,000 miles. It also came with every manual needed for the rig, the Onan generator, appliances, you name it. So, if anyone needs copies of info on parts for a similar rig, I may be able to assist. There will be a small charge for copying, copy paper, mailer, and postage. So it depends on how much info you need at any given time. Not trying to make any "profit" here, just covering myself.
We have a 1973 superior 2500 with a dodge chrysler 440. We had to replace the radiator and many others things, since it has set up for about 6-7 years at my in-laws. My son took off the 3 belts while I was not out there. He is out of town and probably doesnt remember how they go back on. Is there someone who can look on their's and draw a diagram as to how they go back on? There is 3 different size belts or even which one goes to which pulley. Need ASAP Thank you. Hehehe You're lucky..no hubcaps at all on mine!!! Posted this elsewhere, but maybe can get some help here. I have a 1972 Superior 2500, on the Dodge M400 chassis. HOW can you dry-camp, with no grey-water tank??? Book says to close end cap, open flush valve, and let grey drain into black tank. It seems to me that will just result in black backing up into the grey drains. Any help will be appreciated. Please answer via e-mail.

and the 413 cu. in. gasoline engine. I need to either
rebuild or replace the transmission. I would be interested in a master rebuild kit. Also, I need a door
handle,lock & latch assembly made by Hartwell for it.
If I had the replacement cam type lock tumbler to fit it

I have a 1976 D 500 Superior rv 2900.the motor is a 440 but it doesn't take crush washer spark plugs.The plugs in it are ngk ur4 tapered plugs.The best ans i have so far is that the heads are old heavy duty.what are the proper plugs?All help would be welcome.

I have posted on here before and have to apologize for disappearing after offering to share copies of my manuals at cost. The problem is that I have had health issues..And I still do however now for the most part I am even keel as I can be with it all.So I had to say that but also wish one thing was a part of each posting.From what I have seen out in the campgrounds people who camp are usually willing to share knowledge stories and just about anything if its is right to do so. And thats why I wish all the posting said where the poster is living.I live in Ferndale Michigan which is just north of Detroit and even though my wife and son keep me pretty busy I would be more than willing to help a local Superior owner with just about any type of project. I have done a lot of different work on mine and that includes a gas tank getting dropped and replaced and a new copperline run back to the gennie. I plan to fix the gennie and I don;t know whats wrong but will just do it. I am in the process of tearing out some of the bathroom to get at a leaker under the floor.I have recently completely went thru a 1985 Tioga class C and did a ton of different repairs including a comlete interior ceiling tearout and rebuild And when I did it I shored up the ceiling so well you could walk anywhere up there with no sag.I used 2x4s instead of 2x2. Why can't they build them right? Once I get that leak sorted out I will hook up with a friend if he can help me and try and sort out my brake problems. My line from the motor might be the only problem but if its more extensive than that I need help. The hydrovac or boost {i forget} system is a probable culprit but I beleive that I have a manual for that also. Anyhow my email address is rooster56@comcast.net for anyone who wants to work together on their coaches and even if there is a distance it does not mean one could not make a weekend trip to someone elses area which could include some labor on a motorhome and fun while out in a new area. Just acquired a 1973 2500 Superior. It has 65,xxx miles and I am the third owner. Everything works and is intact. I have the original paperwork and manual on how to operate everything. It has a 413 in it and just took it camping and my family loved it.
Does anyone know if they make chrome wheel simulators on it. Also, I need some advice on operating and changing out the large awning.

My dad was one of the first Superior dealers in MS. He recently passed away and I was going through his stuff selling it off for my mom's income. I found a box of 180 color 35mm slides and 3/4 of them cover the manufacturing process from start to finish. The rest are miscellaneous pictures of the Superiors in traveling scenes--so advertising in other words.
Pretty neat to look at. Brought back memories of the 3 or 4 my dad owned through out the years.
I'm asking $50 or best offer plus $5 for shipping if anyone wants them.

Did you ever get an answer to your question? I am having the same problem with my 440. I can not get RJ12yc's in (washer type plug), but tapered plugs fit perfectly, yet all listings for MOPAR 440's say that they should be a washer type...help?

Regarding spark plugs and other components for these old Dodges remember you are dealing with heavy duty or industrial engines. The part stores list for cars or pickups. The plugs listed in the chassis manual for 1973 413/440 is N-6 Champions. Get parts from the drag racers or off roaders because they use the heavy duty parts. I also have the chassis manual and coach manual for the 71/73 Superior available on disc. bill
I am looking for a wiring diagram for my 1972 superior motorhome. I also have quenstions as to how to connect my RV to my house current without using the generator or the battery used to drive the animal. Mine is not running and has not since I bought it a year ago.

I have a 1971 Dodge Superior motorhome. I would like to get manuals and info about it. This is my first RV. I don't know where to get supplies for toilet/shower and where the generator is supposed to be. It drives/looks good.
Years ago I looked at a Superior that was in really bad shape. The interesting part was the rear bed. It was factory installed and worked like a sofa/sleeper futon frame mounted over the passenger side rear wheel hump. On the drivers side there was a vanity over the wheel hump with drawers and cabinets. When the sofa was pulled out to form the bed there was about a foot of walkway between the bed and vanity.
Anyone else seen this this layout?
Anyone have one in a junker they are parting out?

I have a 71 superior motor home and I have bought new batteries for it and one will not hold a charge but the other one will, it is like something is killing the one battery. I have a 72 Superior Motorhome 413 Dodge Motor, I found a Replacement master cylinder for it. Raybestos part #MC36344 (It has a 4 bolt mount, Bore Size= 1 3/4" number of Ports= 2)

Jf, the Dodge chassis were labeled M-300, M-350, RM-300, RM-350, and RM-400.
On my unit the build tag says R40 and from a discussion with an old Dodge mechanic I got that was the same as RM-400.
As for the owners manual several of us on this site have them. I have sent copies to several since 2005. If you are still interested let me know.

I have a 1976 Superior 2900 class A 29' motor home with 63,248 miles that is available. It has on a Dodge 440 engine, an Onan 4.5 KW generator, a 17-1/2' awning, and 6 new tires. It was my father's first motor home and I enjoyed it for many years with my children. Contact me if you are interested.

Larry, you probably have this info already, but just in case not. First some Superiors were on International chassis though most were on Dodge chassis. The build plate inside the radiator door left side will tell which. If Dodge then look at the distributor. If on the right front of engine, it's a 413 or 440, if on the rear it's a 318 or 360. The smaller engine was found in the 20 foot unit, and the larger in the 22 or 25 unit.

John, I have a Dodge chassis manual on disc that covers 72/73 motorhome chassis. I' sure there is not much difference in the 71. It does not, however, cover how to remove the rear brake drums. The fronts are just like an older car: remove the wheel, undo the grease cap, cotter pin,nut and bearing thus exposing the brake mechanism. Repare as needed. The rear is more complicated: remove the wheels (note how they mate together) undo the small nuts surrounding the axle, with a hammer,strike the outer rim of the axle to loosen the conical washers under the small nuts, pull out the axle, find a very large socket for the ring nut or use a chisel to move the nut around to loosen, wiggle the brake drum to loosen the bearing and remove. Now That's simple, Yes? Parts have been easy to find so far for me, good luck in your area. I hope this may have been helpful. Let me know how it goes. Bill Vetters
