Going to beach hot day..stop and go traffic.460 engine...brakes completetly failed.....stopped several places to get looked at(on a Saturday) no luck!....Brakes than begin to work again.....new master(about a month ago) cylinder.....bleed....I am thinking the fluid maybe got hot and boiled causing failure.....began working when it cooled down?? Brakes are fine now....no leaks....anyone have this problem before???

Brake fluid, (an alcohol), is hygroscopic, (takes up water), if you heat the contaiminated fluid up to the boiling point of water, small steam bubbles will form. Results of this are a very low/no pedal. As fluid cools off, steam bubbles cool, condense to water, and it is reabsorbed into the brake fluid.Draining, flushing of brake system, followed by fresh fluid is the correction to be taken.

I have a 2004 Keystone (Cougar) 286 EF fifth wheel and I suspect that that my brakes may have failed for one stop - it resulted in my having an accident shortly after I bought it. I am suspicious this was an electtical problem which occured due to water in the brake electrical system. The road conditions was very wet and it was raining heavily. I recall reading somewhere that, although rare, this has happended to others. Can you confirm this and maybe point me to a contact.

I drove a 99 Honda Odessey and recently got a high impact rear-ended crash by a SUV. Immediately after that, the brake totally failed, no response after pushing down to floor. A few days later. The brake become normal in a low speed test. Can any expert explain this?

Thanks.

We have a 1997 bounder 32ft. 454 chevy chasis we lost all brakes after stop and go traffic. No one seems to say there was ever a problem with this. Not fleetwood, chevy so if anyone can shed somelight on this it would be great. We did regain brakeing after sitting in the DC area for about an hour on rt 95. No fun for us our kids and not ot mention the cars that could have been hit.

Sam Watson, your the man!
Thank you Sam for Posting this!
after over heating my RV P30, I had a brake failure light on & low pedal.
My brakes & Hydro boost work fine now after bleeding both systems and added fresh fluids. I draining the steering fluid by backing off the return line at the steering box. adding fresh fluid as
it drained slowly until color changed.

Thanks Guys!
Re: Brake Failure Bob 7-14-03
Yep had same prob, scary feeling when coming down mountains and no brake pedal.
Did flush and change did wonders, also found my rear brake drums were not adjusting, so most of braking was on fronts causing more heat to build up. If you have rear drum, check them.
