My ? is i have a 1995 int. school bus i want to no if there is a safty switch that would shut the motor down if brakes fails my bus shut down and now when i go to start it i have no buzzers going off tell me that i have low presusre it use to buzz i have two gages they both use to work i put in 120 psi with my air comp so that i could move the bus and i noteice that only one gage works now and the other one stays on 0 and i get no buzzing when i turn keys on is there a shut down switch if so where thanks bob
There is no shutdown switch for the engine in case of air loss, should that occur, the springs in the brake "cans" apply all the brakes, and bring the vehicle to a stop. When that happens, the only way to move it is to get air up in the system, or "cage" the spring in each can---a long and tedious process.
I have a 1991 International School bus, and I can only get the air up to 55psi, I think it may be a frozen line and want to put the additive to it but cannot find the resivoir to add it. I am not sure this is the problem, but I don't hear any air leaks; and I don't get enough air to lift the back of the bus. Can you help me, I am Diesel & Air Brake Illiterate.
Jeff
May have a faulty check valve, the unit will have check valves between the gvarious air tanks, usualy @ the outlet of the feeding tank, in this case the one feeding the rear brakes.
Just have to start tracing lines and loosing things off untill you locate the problem.
Good Luck
Thanks sam for the info on that what i now foung is that my front brakes are not work at all when step on braks the back lock up but the front do nothing and they are not lock down i do have two gages for my air and only one shows 120 and the other one is 0
Your '95 rig has a split system, one for the fronts and one for the backs. It's possible that only your rear axle is equipped with spring brakes. There should be a floating shuttle valve on the inlet side of the two tanks. It's possible you blew it over to one side where it stuck when you aired the unit up to move it. Start by blowing the tanks down and airing them back up with the engine driven compressor, that'll sometimes center the valves.
