Auto brake 96 chev Bounder Andy 2-21-03
Hi All,Does anybody how to disconnect
The parking brake sys on a P30 chev
as I understand that they are not to
good and don't want to have trouble
with it. thanks

I don't know who is telling you that, but I don't believe it. I would be EXTREMELY careful disconnecting anything that serves a purpose on your vehicle. I don't think anybody with at least a 1/4 ounce of brains would reccomend disconnecting your parking brake. Just my opinion anyway. What's everybody else think? Sam?

It was good to see your post. I hope you have filed a complaint with the NHTSA
I have encouraged all that own this sloppy system to file as a safety hazard.
their address is www.nhtsa.dot.gov or they can be reached at 1-888-327-4236
If we all file a report, then maybe GM will be forced to do a recall or in the final
analysis we can hold them responsible for out deaths. What a morbid thought that
it has come down to that.

If I can be of any help, please contact me. I have had over 50 mails on this subject alone.
My co-hart in all this is Jerry McCormick 679 Lolita Ln. Mesquite, NV 89027 (702) 345-2096. Jerry is a retire
GM employee and is really disgusted at this whole problem and has been a good source for
me. He and I have accumulated quite a bit of documentation on this and may some time in the future,
depending on the outcome of the recall, issue a class action suit to get the problem remedied. If you
are interested send either Jerry or my self your address and we will include you in the class action..
you can e-mail me at this address, Jerry does not have a computer so he needs to be contacted by mail or
phone.

Thanks,

Paul Hoffman

Andy,
You really want to be careful, in addition this system carries about 1200/1600 pounds pressure on it. I think it would be dangerous to work on it without a good working knowledge of the system.

Paul
