I am have a problem with the automatic parking brake on my Mallard motorhome (John Deere chassis). When I place the unit in Park it just rolls ahead or back. I have checked the fluid level and lines but did not find the problem. My question is wither the RV only has this hydraulic park or does it have a park gear in the transmission plus the automatic parking brake. In other words is there only one park or is it two ( gear in the transmission and hydraulic system)
Thanks for any info..
The hydraulic release auto brake is more than likly the only way of holding the unit in park. The park pawl inside the auto trans was not strong enough and would just shatter so the manufacturer removed it and put in this brake. It sounds like your auto park brake has either been burnt oout through inadvertant application while in motion or is oil soaked from a leak. Good Luck
