My wife has a 95 gran prix, and it does move in reverse but makes a loud clicking noise. But it moves in the drive gear, but for only a little while. Any ideas?
It sounds like your bands and clutches are going out in the transmission. Alot of transmission when they go out will still have the reverse operating but forward gears
won't.
But at the sAME TIME SINCE THE NEWER VEHICLES HAVE COMPTERIZED TRANSMISSION, they may be some solenoids that needs to be changed such as the shifting ones, TCC, one which engages the torgcontvert,ect.
