I have a 1997 GMC Savanna van 5.7L 4l80E runs (shifts) perfect cold fluid on stick is clean starts to slip badly after warming up but If I turn off the key and restart works good again for 5- 10 minutes then slips again. Also makes noise rattling when it slips. Any Ideas ???
My best sugestion is to have it scaned. I have a box that wil do it and they run a couple hundred bucks at a tool store or pay somebody to do it. If it isn't setting codes it should be. Good Luck
I am kind of experiencing the same problems with my 93 GMC 2400 truck
and the TCC solenoid locks in the torq
convert if its slipping out it may be causing your problems, or it could be
the shifting solenoids 1-2,2-3, 3-4
Now my truck started after warmed up
to slip out of over drive back to 2 or 3 gear and if it sets a hour it will shift good again for up to 10 miles and
repeat problem, plus at times it will shift real hard like the hotrod shift kits makes a tranny do. I did read in a book that if the tranny oil reaches a temperture of 293 for more then 30min
it will start acting up, you could have a flow problem to were it's not cooling down as it should. I am going to install a new tranny cooler to see
if it takes care of the problem as a test result. If not I will return the lines back to the factory ones.
This is all I can offer you as for as
what I know about the matter
There are only 2 shifting solenoids in the 4L80-E Transmission. To go into 4th Gear both of those shifting solenoids have to engage and allow fluid to go to the TCC Solenoid. This solenoid is regulated by the computer to put you into overdrive and it does. The problem can more than likely be traced to the TCC Regulator valve that the TCC solenoid controls.
The Basics of this TCC Solenoid simply turn on and turn off "pulsed" pressure to the Torque converter clutch. the achilles heel of this transmission is this valve that can wear out. This is why when the fluid is cold the Overdrive works OK. When its warm then fluid can slip on by.
Have a 1985 winnebago chieftan, interior lights worked while winnebago turned off and while turned on, now not working either way. Can you please tell me if this has to do with a fuse internally in the fuse box,or a short somewhere, oh also if the generator is on the interior lights will work. Any advice, greatly appreciated, this is my home, Thankyou in advance.
Hello. My question is this. Would changing the valve body cure this? I am having the exact same problem with my 94 2500 Burb.
Thank you in advance!
