1996 GMC Surburban CK2500 4WD, 454V8. Transmission pops out of reverse hard (bang) when backing down a slightly sloped or severely sloped incline. Usually on level surfaces it will not pop out unless you give it some gas. Any ideas on a fix? Is it the sensors?
It sounds more like a transfer case problem. I have heard them bang like this when the gears in the ransfer case are fourced by beeing wound up by turning or difrent sized tires while in 4wd. If its an auto 4X4 system it may not be releasing correct. Either way it a damaged unit if bangs like that and needs to visit a specilist for diagnoses. Good Luck
