Chevy 2500 6.5 turbo shifts like new for about 20 min after that drops back to 1st and only shifts real hard if red lined will drop out of od some times. after you turn the key off or wait, it will work fine code 24 on computer.Changed speed sensor, both shift sel, pcm, oil to synthetic still the same. HELP!!!!!
I am going to assume that your tranny is a 4L80E to which seems to be one that is gaving alot of problems.
You may need to change your shifting solenoids to are 1-2 and 2-3 and 3-4 and the TCC one controls the torq.convert lockin or out, your flow
to the cooler may need to be checked for flow problems.
I have a 93 GMC to which is giving me about the same problems it started off shifting real hard and not shifting
other then when it's cold it shifts just fine without any problems for about 20 min.
Now I have replaced the shifting solenoids from 1-2,then 2-3 that seem to take care of the problem from it not shifting into those gears, but now it drops out of overdrive back into 3rd or even 2nd, and the hard shifting
issue, I am going to try the new cooler I bought to see if its a temperture thing that the tranny is getting to hot. Theirs only one other
solenoid that I haven'y changed to which I am trying to find out what its function at the present. Now the tranny cooler lines do clog up at times or inside the cooler itself, I am going to try blowing air through the lines and cooler to see if there a flow problem by how fast the fluid is pushed out by the compressed air, in most cases when the tranny is heating up to much it blows out the front seal usely and begains leaking badley but I haven't had that effect or drove it long enough once it start acting up !
You know this may be some type of recall problem and there hasn't been enough people sending in complaints to GMC/Chevy regarding it! Because out of all the online sites regarding auto problems I have found hundreds of complaints and problems regarding the
4L80E or 4L60E tranny's that way I say that! I am going to send them a complaint making them aware of the problems and I would advise you to do the same, because it may be something we can have repaired for free or have the tranny's replaced for free because of defects in them.
