I am looking for a bus to convert to an RV and am interested in finding a late model Buffalo. However, I remember my dad who was a long time Greyhound driver telling me he hated to drive them because they were underpowered and didn't do so well when it was windy. Has anyone had similar experiences with this model, or any positive or negative feedback?

Some people have made the same comments about other coaches as well. You really have to find out for yourself by driving one, if possible, and making sure you consider the type of travel you will be engaged in.
If you are going to be traveling mostly in a mountainous area, then power is important. More importantly, though, is your transmission. You can have great power, but, if your transmission doesn't have enough gears, then the power is lost.
As far as the wind is concerned, I've found that the floorplan, weight distribution, and suspension all play a roll. Because the Buffalo has airbags on each wheel, some have found that makes it seem to rock side-to-side more. But, that's where the floorplan comes in. If one has weighted to one side more than the other, then the rocking will be greater.
I have a buffalo, and don't feel the way your father did. But, your father has much more experience driving in various conditions.
I have a 4106 with an 8V71 TA. I can tell you that basically nothing as big or bigger passes me when climbing and almost anywhere else. She is so powerful, that she will heat and has misters on the radiator to prevent that. Basically the speed is limited by your pocketbook, as she is able to do what you want and then just needs fuel. Now I am not a racer, but it is sure nice to have the power to at least keep up with traffic if you know what I mean. I also have an '04 when I want to save fuel. I don't know what 40' people do. I am afraid to think of what the fuel bill would be to go the same miles as I do. If these fuel prices don't come down, we will likely be seen in the '04. Bill T.
