I think I looked at the coaches you are referring to. Good looking rigs. The price is great. Here's the skinny. He's been trying to sell in the charter market but no operators will touch them because MAN coaches are not americanized. I mean that the running gear is German, not a Detroit / Allison or Spicer mix. Parts can run days to weeks if it breaks. Then you have to locate a mechanic with metric tools in the large bus sizes. MAN makes it's own engine, and I understand it is a great diesel (The fellow-Diesel- who invented the engine was a MAN employee) but even the best engines go south eventually. The ZF transmission parts are available here in the states. In any event, I looked at the original savings at purchase, then I got info about the long lead, few mechanics with MAN experience (mostly marine mechanics, yachts and commercial fishing boats), and the expense for replacement components shipped from Germany. Think about having that big bugger of a windshield shipped in! Yikes.
I just picked up an Eagle of the same vintage for 5k more than the MAN. 5k is small potatoes for peace of mind. Think it through. It is a pretty rig. Either way, have a ball.
