I have 20' superior, with a 318 engine, but can't find any info on the transmission. It is the type with the break drum emergency brake attached to the driveshaft at the transmission. What I'd like to know is, what other year, and type transmission can be incorporated with this drum attached, and is there much involved in attaching the housing that the drum is attached to into the replacement trans. "
In other words, what other transmissions can accomodate the brake drum ? Thanks for any help...eric
Dodge torque fight tranny is standard and will fit.... just rebuilt mine in albuquerque and had not trouble had it back in 2 days... 72 superior with 413 rb engine, (note that your 413 engine may be worth more to someone building a racing engine than your whole rv cause they like the rb heads) headman headers $99.00 from summit racing catalogue went from 7.5 mpg to 11 mpg... have heavy duty from pump installed in tranny to handle low gear when going down hill in rockies, really helps and prevents overpressure of front seal to tourque converter.
You should be able to get just about anything you need through summit racing....if they don't have it in their catalogue they can send you to the right place...give em' a call... they are more than willing to take your money or direct you to someone who will... i've had no problems finding parts, folks building engines for drag racing and dirt tracks just drool over the 413 wedge with rb heads... can be bored out reeally huge since it is an industrial model engine... get rid of the stock cast exhaust manifolds and do headers ($99.00 from summit racing, fits perfect) with dual exhaust with a cross pipe to balance exhaust and you will see excellent power and performance increase.... recore the radiator with a four core open fin radiator (el paso radiator $360) and no more overheating even when going over 12000 ft passes in heat of summer pulling a load... make sure tail pipes go out behind the duallys or you will blow tires from overheating.. i learned hard way...pretty dramatic.. good luck... were just leaving from abq to black hills then up to montana... wyoming and back through high peaks of gunnison... pretty brave going from carbondale to crested butte colo over dirt slumgullion pass... we just go by the overheated cars....
