Acts like not getting gas Nancy 2-20-00
We have a 1986 gas auto trans LeSharo that is having a problem. We can drive it for 15 miles and then it backfires and BOGGS down, then you can smell gas( like flooding out)it will cut of but start right back up with no problem.Have had plugs replaced( 2 times in one month),fuel injecters, fuel regulator, temp sensor and gas filter replaced but nothing is helping it,have even had new connectors replaced on the wires with the sensor. Can anyone help us?

If it is backfiring through the exhaust, it may be be pickup in the distributor, and if it is poping up through the intake, it may be the fuel pump shutting off. You will have to hook a gauge up to it, run it up the road to see if it is loosing fuel pressure, then figure out wether it is the relay, or pump causing the fuel pressure to drop. I have put tatel tail lights on the fuel pump feed wire to watch the light, if you loose the light you have lost power from the relay, if the light stays on and you loose fuel pressure its the pump. Hope it helps ya. Steve
