Post New Message Hey Steve,

It sounds like the two different numbers are over all miles and either a rebuild miles or conversion miles. The 6v92 is a resonably reliable motor. It is probably more electronic than motors in the past, like the 8v71 so if something goes wrong you may be replacing a computer verses an injector. I don't personally have on, we have an 8v71 which is very reliable. All detroits should be million mile motors as long as they have lots of oil. Does it smoke after it is warmed up? They usually smoke a little on start up, but if they smoke after than it means it's been sitting a while or there is something wrong. As the current owner how long it has been sitting. If it has been sitting for a long time, you will have problems with many small costly things. Hope that helps.

Kev
