I want to Purchase a Diesel Pusher about 36 ft. and I want to pull a 4000 lb car. I need help to select the proper brand, type of engine and chassis. I may go with New or a good used unit. would like to find a leftover some time in August. Thanks for any help.
Sounds as though u are shopping for a manufactured motor home rather than an intercity bus conversion. There is a major diff. However, if u are looking for a manufactured diesel powered motorhome then I would shop for nothing less than one with a 300 rated hp engine (usually a Cummins) and an Allison World 6 trans, usually the 3000 series. There are at least a million of them available, but if u intend to be a happy camper, stay away from the low end diesel pushers that are being peddled to the un-informed buying public. Look for a good, low mile, used medium priced unit. If u want to be a real happy and proud camper, shop the used converted bus market. A whole lot more camper for usually less money. A good unit, fully converted and in good serviceable order, road ready, around 30-40k.

If you are looking to purchase a quality diesel coach that has all the ammenities of home, is fun to travel in, gets teriffic fuel economy, and is a real head turner - I would reccomend highly an American Eagle by Fleetwood. We love ours and get many compliments on it wherever we go. Mine is a 1998 with a slide out (A MUST IN WHATEVER YOU BUY). The 1998 and 1999 are far better product than the 2000 and 2001. We average 10-12 MPG, and the coach is simple and a joy to drive and to maintain. It is difficult to think of an accessory they do not have.Definitely stay away from the low end diesel products or the Tourmaster. If you wish, e-mail me and we can discuss the Eagle further. You will get a lot of warranty on the engine that you will not get on a used conversion bus. I looked at virtually every quality diesel on the market-new and used; prior to deciding what to buy. Look forward to hearing from you.Regards,
