I have a 6V53 normally aspirated in a 30,000 lb motorhome and find it to be weak now that I live in Alaska and not the costal south.... Any ideas to improve power and maintain reliability would be appreciated.
Detroit still makes the 6V-53 in different forms for the military for equipment designed around this small, but noisy engine. If you want to upgrade, rebuild the engine to turbo specs and increase your torque by 50% and your hp by 100. Using either a International DTA466 or a Cummins 8.3 would make more sense-lots in the junk yards. Good Luck, TomC
