Can any one help me on some input on a 71 eagle. Want to convert it to motor home. It has a 8v71 4 speed.I know this bus don't have air bags. I'm wondering how it is for the motor home coverstion.I can't get it to details but i just bought
a 4106 and after having it for 2 weeks found out it was stolen. So now i lost all the money i had in the 4106 and my wife and my harts are broken.I realy want a 4106 or a mci 5 35 foot. i'm not realy interested in a 40 foot. But now i lost alot of money in the 4106 I,m scrapping bottom for a bus i found this eagle for 12 grand and i just order a manual air bag kit to level the 4106 with the air bags. Now i got a kit for that and no bus. I don't have the money to travel far for a bus or to get one all the way done. The 4106 was 90% done.Thats what was great about it but it's back where it belongs.if any one can help on this or any input on a 35 foot bus where it's in good condition. or covertion started or what ever please let me know. Like i said now money is tight i'm in the range of 10 to 15 grand And still like the 4106 and mci 5 thanks be aware who you buy from got me!!!!!!!!!!!
Eagle buses have torsalastic suspensions so your air bag kit will not work on an Eagle.
An 8V-71 with a 4-speed is an okay combination. The downside is with only four gears it can be a challenge getting the bus started from a stop if you are on any kind of a hill. Also, when you are out on the road, four gears means you have to shift down pretty quick when you get to the steep stuff.
If the Eagle doesn't have any rust, an Eagle makes a pretty nice conversion.
The torsalastic suspension actually rides and handles better, in my opinion, than any air suspension.
The only other opinion I would offer is not to be in any hurry. Don't purchase any bus just because it is close to you or because "it will do". There are a lot of buses for sale all over the place. If you wait, the right bus will come along.
Dear Sirs: I need some advice. I am looking at a 1982 Eagle that seems to be in good shape. The torsalastic system has 3/4 of an inch of thread showing on the front. I don't know exactly what this means but I do know that the system is expensive. Should this bus be passed by if I am not able to purchase a new system? Thanks for any advice that you might send. Chet
