I am looking for a motorhome (was told bus was the best way to go) to live in mostly and travel some. I read something online here that concerns me. Is it true that this type of bus won't exceed 45 mph? Please advise...ready to purchase. Thanks
Robin,
There are several different gear ratios for the RTS.they range from a 4:10 with a top speed of about 80 to a 6:38 with a top speed of about 50.A lot of us feel that the 4:56 is the best compromise giving about 70+.You will need to check which one the bus you are looking at has.The gears can be changed for around $3000-Donn
I too am considering a GMC RTS for RV conversion. What should I expect to pay for such a bus (pre-conversion)?
Is the 6v or 8v engine preferable?
Do I need a special lisense to drive it? (I am a California resident).
Thanks in advance.
Hi, where can I get RTS II parts for sale? I need the blower shaft assy, this practicly iniciates compression to the motor and I will be able to start the engine, thank you.
Hello,
I have a 1978 RTS which I have started coverting into an RV. The engine is in excellent condition. I have put it an ebay for sale. Please take a look. The ebay item # is 4642098660.
