I have a 1986 Ford 460 "C" class. This is an intermittent problem, at times you try to start and it acts like a bad solinoid, nothing. I have replaced the starter, solinoid, ignition switch and checked all grounds and they appear to be ok. Whe it occurs all you have to do is jump the solinoid and presto it starts. Please can anyone help me, I'm desperate...
Hi Alex;
If your bus is an automatic check the neutral safety switch. This switch prevents the vehicle from starting if not in Neutral(or Park). Depending on the vehicle it could be on the steering column, shifter(floor), or directly into the transmission. Some manual shifts use a clutch switch that won't allow a start unless the pedal is depressed.
Good Luck
