Coil springs on Workhorse Frankie 3-17-08
There are times, especially when entering an RV park that has a big rut in the driveway, with the wheels turned, the bounce makes the wheels hit the fenders. It happens seldom, but enough to start damaging the fiberglass on the fender bottoms. I have the coil spring airbags inflated to 70 pounds but there is very little clearance between the wheel and fender on level ground; maybe an inch. Are my coil springs too weak? Should I add a booster spring ie, those twist in blocks or coil string expanders you see in J.C. Whitney catalogs? Am I the only one who has ever experienced this? I only weigh 175 so don't suggest a diet. MH has only 35,000 miles, and is very lightly loaded. Any suggestions?

Hello Frankie;
I have a 98 Bounder--NOT overloaded,I had the same problem-I took MH got it weighed,called super steer. I bought 6300 lb springs---and eliminated the Air Bags took 4.5 hours to change them--I had done this before on my 84 Pace Arrow---same droop.shop wanted 600.oo labor--they are nuts.
then when I finished---let it sit a week--drove it 60 miles to Alignment shop---supersteer's specs.now My Bounder drives wonderful and it's level.
rich in so.Va.
