We bought the above motor home and drove it home (barely) on Friday. Saturday my husband started it up and pulled it into the driveway. He did some work to the power stearing belt and in doing so he needed to take the oil filter off. He has fixed the belt, added a new oil filter and oil. Now when we try to start it nothing happens. We have power, the battery is fully charged and the headlights work but you turn the key and are greeted with nothing. We are new RV owners, this is our first and we don’t know why it worked over the weekend and now it doesn’t. Any suggestions? Thanks!
This happened to our 79 Pace Arrow with the Doge 440. The problem with ours was a relay mounted down low on the left side of the engine (reachable by removing the engine cover). The bayonet electrical connectors get corroded. Try keeping the ignition in the start position and moving the wires around...that's the way I found the problem on ours. Of course, working on the belt might have moved some wires around and even dislodged one. Otherwise, I'd make sure the engine ground cable is in good shape and tight.
Thanks for your help John. It turned out that a sensor has gone bad and we have to hold the shifter just above park when we turn the key. The van thinks we are in gear when we are in park.
