I am doing a 4.0 swap in my truck. Can I use the same transmission that is in the truck now? Does the 4.0 computer have the same two wires gong to the transmission? If not, will the 4.0 transmission bolt up to my transfer case? Thoughts
There were at least 2 bellhousing patterns, but that might only apply to the V8 versus the V6. If the bellhousing bolts up to the back of the new motor, the transmission will work.
EEC4 is EEC4, so the 2 wires will be present for any and all transmission combos that could have been ordered in 1987. If the 2 wires go all the way back to the tailshaft housing, then they are for the speed sensor and will be identical whether you use the 4L or 3L.
