I own a 98 ranger 4x4 with a 3.0 It has a lift kit and 33x12.5 tires. I am wondering what would be good ways to improve the mpg. Any sugestions are welcome. With gas prices it is getting costly to drive at 18mpg right now.
Keep the engine tuned and keep the air filter clean. Make sure you're using a good synthetic 5W30 oil. Put synthetic oil in the differentials if you haven't already. Make sure the front axle bearings don't have too much preload.
You haven't said if you have a stick or an auto transmission.There are synthetic fluids made for both, but there's not much you can do to an automatic to improve your gas milage. Look for a "power programmer" for your truck. Most of them have an "economy" tune and improve the shifts for an automatic to help milage.
