I have a 6.5 lp onan. I can not keep it running. The reg, carb, spark plugs and air cleaner all have been replaced. The gen will start up fine but will only run for 2 or 3 seconds. Any one know what it could be or were I can get a good service book.
I would suspect it is not getting gas- can you run a new and separate fuel line to it (level with carb). If it stays running after this, I would suspect a fuel pump (if it has one) or a crack in the fuel line.
I have no experience with this model, I just know a little about small engines-
You need gas, a spark and timing. If it runs for a couple of seconds you have gas (little at least), spark and timing. Also try choking the carb maybe it is not getting enough because it is cold. (the colder the engine is the more gas that is needed at initial start. Where do you live?
