We hooked up the battery to our '75 Layton trailer which had been sitting for 11 years - for the first time today. While on just battery power the converter clicked on and off with the coils glowing and the power level in the lights increasing and decreasing. Had good charge of 12.37V on battery. Is the converter supposed to do this? My son thinks that it may be protecting the system from a short or something. Any suggestions? I thought the converter was only supposed to be active when plugged into "shore" power.
