Ok 87 32ft class a chevy 454,rv ran cold before no problem, then i changed the radiator fluid and thermostat /the thermo is standard 190(i think)flushed system, and now the temp gauge warms up quick and runs half instead of the 1/4 it did before i changed everything
is the thermo wrong???also has anyone used raditor additives that claim to keep the engine 20% cooler i read that quicker warm ups equal longer engine life????
Its good that it warms up quick, lots of old thermostats stick open a bit and take time to warm up.No leaks in the system? My Itasca runs about 3/8 up the gauge. A good shop can shoot it with a electronic temp. gun and check the temp very quick. May just be the gauge reading a bit high. How does it do on some long grades? May not be anything wrong but just get it checked. MIKE
Thanks!! no leaks runs great i put a 195 thermo in it/stock/and i was thinking
it had a lower temp in it is it ok to try 180 thermo??before it never even made it to the half mark
My 2 cents: Unless you need the heat for warmth from the heater any t stat that gets and keeps your engine over 150 F will do. 150 seems to be the temp most injection systems go closed loop and meter the fuel corectly. I prefer my engine to run at or above 180 so I do have good heat inside and I don't get any moisture in the engine oil. Good Luck
