I am currently doing a 4.0 swap in my truck. I was wandering if having the heads ported and polished and bowls blended would help with fuel economy. I have match ported the upper and lower plenum and have headers and a home made cold air intake as well. Will these heads help?

Rule of thumb is that mild porting allways helps. It can mess things up if it is done agressivly. I allways do a clean up port job on my stuff when it is appart just smooth things and remove the obvious ridges and flat spots etc. I don't do a full race port job, that can lead idle problems and if not done by a pro actualy cost performance on a street engine. Good Luck

Fuel enconomy is dependant on how efficiently you burn fuel, so the port and polish and cold air intake will help. The major impact will be if you are reusing the factory EFI or not.

The way Ford EFI works is to burn as lean as possible without causing detonation. The mods you're making will allow clean burning to very lean mixtures, so you'll see great fuel economy with EFI. If you are using a carburator, you will see an improvement in power but will more than likely see a decrease or no improvement in fuel economy without some serious rejetting and tuning.

Hope that helps!
