Post New Message The first thing I would suspect is bad connections or damaged wires. A ne walternator should act like that, but it might if the battery is heavily sulphated and won't take a charge.

With no load, you should see at least 13.5 volts across the battery terminals with the engine running at idle. With the headlights and heater and other electrical loads, you should have a minimum of 12.5 volts at idle.
