My son has a 1989 sierra c1500 TBI that wouldn't start. I opened lower butterfly and put fuel (gas) straight into the intake manifold it starts and stay running but when I shut it off and wait a while it wont start again. I've checked and replaced the fuel filter and pulled the fuel line and noticed when I turn the key on the fuel pump works for aprox 3 sec then shuts off (about 2 to 4 ounces come out in a full stream shooting aprox 3")counter dork at local auto parts claims specs are 9 t0 25lb's (witch sounded rather fishy to me). Is there a "shadetree", "Poorboy", roadside test or rule of thumb for testing the fuelpump???
P.S. I find it strange that once I get it running it runs well while you drive it and tha it pumps for a few sec than stops. any imput will be helpfull thank you. |
