The door ajar light on my 98 ford taurus is always on. It hasn't been a problem until recently the light under the glove box that lights the area underneath the passengers feet won't turn off. I now have to get out on the passenger side to get it to turn off.
Typically, the fuse box in under the dash on the driver's side or in the side of the dash on the driver's side (you see it when you look at the dash while you have the door open).
The fuse to pull out would be the one for the "Dome light" circuit, but you will also disable or cause problems with the factory alarm, the air bag circuit and other related systems. I would recommend fixing the problem rather than pulling the fuse. It's pretty common to have the little pin switches in the door jamb fail and short to ground. I'd check them as well as the light that's supposed to be on for the driver's side footwell when the light for the passenger side is on.
The spray lubricant suggestion worked for me. After spraying all door lock assemblies and opening and closing all doors several times the dome light and door ajar light went out.
