I have a 1997 chvey 1/2 ton 1500 reg cab pickup with a 4.3 in it. And it has been acting really weird. Sometimes it loses all electrical power going down the road it goes off and on off and on. And sometimes it cuts out real bad and sometimes it doesn't cut out at all. And recently the speedo has been going haywire. I had the battery checked out and the alternator and they are both fine. O yea sometimes lately the battery guage jumps just a little bit just enough to make the brake booster roar. It has a manual tranny and the fuel pump is new. Im at a loss. Can someone help me please.
You have an intermitant power supply problem. Turn somthing on and start shaking wires under the hood. Check all the main supply and ground wires at the battery, the block, the starter the distribution center(fuse box) the wiring leading to the ignition switch etc. Go through the entire wiring harness untill the item you have on quits. I usualy turn the radio on for this type of thing. I am willing to bet you have a broken or loose ground cable or cables that cause this. Just because I find about 60% of these problems trace back to missing loose and damaged grounds. Usually two to cause the trouble you are describing. Good Luck
