I'm having some issues with the heat in my 1998 Taurus SE as well. I am wondering if, with the remaining problem I'm having, it could be the corroded pump fins some are referring to. I flushed the heater core until clean, free-flowing water was going through it. The heat will now work when the motor is hot, but with the following anomalies: It takes forever to heat up. I can drive five miles before the needle passes "C", and probably another 10 before it gets to normal (just shy of halfway). If I am accelerating or cruising along, I get decent heat. If I drive slowly or come to a stop, the heat starts to fade. I have also changed the thermostat recently, to no avail. Any ideas on that? |
