I have a 93 bounder motorhome with a chevy 454 engine. I started to get a popping out of the carb when climbing hills, changed plugs, dist cap and rotor which helped about 50% any help to keep me out of Chevy dealers would be very helpful. "Good Motoring"
Change the spark plug wires.Works for me 86 Itasca 27 foot. Good Luck a Happy camping MIKE and Hello Rich. OH I like the after market wire loom to mount the wires on I think I used Mallory type lots of good ones out there. My factory type had no support and the wires reached over the valve covers with lots of flexing when on the road. I think that caused them to fail early 26 k mi.Maybe there are better mounting type now.Just my two cents????
On several occasions I have seen a carbon build up on the valves from leaking intake valve seals. The build up is so bad that it prevents the valves from closing quick enough under loaded conditions. I had one so bad that after sitting all winter, it wouldn't start.
