I have a dometic air unit on my RV. The compressor will kick on then kick off,after a short time then it will kick back on to only kick off again, so therefore it does not cool. What might my problem be? Is it a defective compressor or what?
Ken, be sure the condenser is clean and fan running. Also be sure that you are not getting voltage drop from using an extention cord. If voltage drop is from excessive long wire runs either from extention cord or circuit wiring then a/c will malfunction and possibly cause compressor damage. Bruce

is the fan running,?
if not--- the unit is freezing up
take the cover off and oil the motor bearings--It might not be pushing air--are the coils clean.? thus freezing
and possibly the capacitor is bad--or voltage is to low---
Definately check the fan outside. You should be able to hear it run when the compressor is running. See if mud daubers haven't built a nest preventing it from turning.
