I have a 1995 Dutchstar motorhome with a Defective AC. The Compressor has a crack and leaks all the Freon. So I am thinking best thing is to replace it. The old unit is a Duotherm 59016.521. A local RV place tells me that the Tstat (Duotherm 3105356.004) is obsolete and must be replaced as well. Total estimate is for $1600. Looks to me like the Tstat DOES control BOTH AC and the Propane Heater. I am inclined to do the job myself, but want to understand the requirements to "rewire" the thing. I have experience as a field engineer and bench technician in both electrical and mechanical disciplines, so I am thinking I should be able to figure this out. Any suggestions, advice, or warnings? I want to be prepared before I start, since this is a full time rig.
Go for it,the install should be no problem for you.may need help getting the new up on the top side.My old Coleman leaked down a few years ago and I just put a tap valve on it and recharged that was 3 or 4 years ago.Don,t know about a cracked case but anything can happen I guess.Might have a friend thats knows air check it out.May be you can use two thermostats one for heat and one for air. Good Luck MIKE
Call dometic customer service with those part numbers and they will tell you what you need, should be able to do it yourself, there is no rewiring required, they will have the kit you need, should all run under 1,000.00 for everything
