My 8500-II will not light, tryed going through shut off and wait 5 min startup, nothing happens. Note: this unit is used year round, last winter I was away from the unit with the furnace on and the propane ran out. Not sure if this helps but thought it might.
It sounds like you killed the spark control unit. Mine does'nt lock itselp out if there is no LPG. It will keep on trying to light itself. It is an easy fix if your kind of handy if not get a RV tech to do it.
