Rebuilding a 4.3 Cevy 91 S10, when I installed the crankshaft I was able to turn it by hand after the torque., after I started installing the pistons I noticed I could not turn the engine anymore by hand. The book says I should be able to turn it by hand to check for binding, Does it matter what pistons go in which cylinder? I did match up the bearing caps to the rods via the lettering on each.
what are the markings on each piston for. I have 2 marked A, 1 B, 1C, 1 L,1 M
It only matters if you are re-using the pistons and rods that came out of the engine originally. The rods are more critical, since the rod ends wear and the rods match the wear on rods opposite to them on the same journal. If you mis-match rods on a journal, the rod ends will bind.
I am looking at an engine out of a s10, do not know any history on this engine. How do I tell what the Cu In is HP, general info. on this engine. It is a v6 out of an s10 PU., has carb., not FI. Where can I get info from the engine number?
