I just found out that as a perminent camper for the past 2 months I have been running a 33 ft camper that requires 30 amp service on a 20 amp service pole that is disguised as a 30 amp service with outlet and breakers. I found this out because it has been an issue with power surges all the time and now has caught outlet and my extension cord on fire and melted them both last night. What damage can this have caused to to my camper and my appliances and other parts that anyone knows of?
Hello Melissa
I don't think theirs would cause any damage to yours--

see this web site for how yours plug should be replaced---Lowes and Home Depot have a better male plug than wal mart does---be sure it's wired correctly

Good afternoon
low voltage will just damage electrical appliances and electronics---not the
actual ammonia leaking thing.low voltage would have harmed the control
board. and the AC's
so sorry for the fire--.
bad enough not having a reefer-to keep food in.
my Bounder is 30 amp-and I have had it hooked up many times on just 20
amp receptacle---I'm just careful not to run much at one time--just
microwave-=--then turn AC back on--like the old "green acres TV series"
only use one thing at a time.
well I hope all is fixed soon

Thanks
Yeah we had one of the 75.oo rv 50 amp plugs and it melted along with the entire electric outlet it was plugged into in the fire last night. SO you dont think this had anyting to do with frige going out, cause manufacturer suggested electric voltage shortage could burn it up? My manual says that running rv on 20 amp service long term can harm your trailer or cause fire
