Started up on Wed afternoon for about 20 mins and then quit like it ran out of gas, but had 5\8 tank. Worked on lastnight and today still wont run. I have checked the oil,changed the plugs, cleaned the carb (runs with the cleaner)and did the 12v test. The fuel pump makes a winding sound but no fuel in the lines. is this the fuel pump, bad lines? Please help me

Had problems with my GEn. Sprayed carb cleaner in the carb opening. THen re,oved the line from the fuel pump to the carb and using the extension nozzle on the crb cleaner sraped cleaner in the line two or three times. Conected back up the fuel line, filler a small oil cna with fresh gas. Sprayed some fule in the carb and started the generator. I then kept srpainy a little fuel in the carb from the oil can as the engine started to die. Ran the gen at a fast speed, got a black exhaust for awhile like running rich or like a diesel. After 3 to 5 minutes the generator started pulling fuel and running on its own. Bought some fuel system cleaner. Plan on using a small tank from a small engine (similar to tank on lawn mower) putting some fresh fuel and fuel system cleaner in it and attaching it to the fuel pump fro the generator, blocking off the line from the original tank. I'm going to run it this way for awhile as I think the inside of the carb maybe gummed up.
Accidently overfilled oil after changing oil, will not start, will act like trying but just shakes and coughs black smoke out exhaust. Was running fine before changed oil. Put in new plugs, still remains same. What else can I do?
